Found myself looking for these kinds of pictures myself a while ago, when I stumbled upon this book market in Milan, Italy. Snapped a few pictures with the specific intent submitting them on Unsplash.

I don’t like books, but I like reading

Read …. this book, that book !

ALMOST all of the successful person on the world read books, and ALMOST everybody I knew, when they give advices to others, usually they will recommend you to read books: “If you want to success, read books”.

Uhmmmmm ….. Is this true ?

Until the time writing this post, I never finished reading any books, is that the reason I’m not success until now ? May be I should stop writing, go grab a book and read ! NOW !!!

I believe to success, you will need many factors: communication, relationships, skills, timing, luck … not only “read books”.

I personally found that reading books is boring, because of … text, too much text …
Text, high school lecture … they are my number 1 motivation killers, now I understand why I’m not good at Literature in High school !

Books, they are just another … source of knowledge

Not reading books doesn’t mean I don’t like reading.
Nowadays, there are many sources of knowledge which you can refer to, not only books. I read a lot of articles, magazines, news, documents, stories …

I love myths, especially about Greek myth (heroes, gods, wars, stories …).
The most famous books are “The Iliad” and “The Odyssey”, two epic poems by Homer, but I have never read these books, instead I know about Greek myths & love them through movies, stories, comic books, games.

As a developers, if I’m asked to setup a server on AWS, or start a new project using language X, will I have to read a book describe everything about AWS, infrastructure, or learn the whole new language X by books … Absolutely not !!!

Instead, I will go looking for articles, short, clean & clear, focusing on the problem I’m facing, give it a try, then later when I have time, I dig deeper about it … by many sources

It’s not about the books, it’s about what you read, how you read and how you getting knowledge from there. Choose the way which fit for you, don’t follow advices blindly.

Thanks for reading
